Ribery 'not completely happy with' Bayern minutes

With five Bundesliga titles on the bounce, Bayern Munich has built a footballing foundation the envy of its peers, though some slight cracks in the bedrock have become visible after Carlo Ancelotti's first year in charge.

No stranger to letting his opinion be known, Franck Ribery has admitted he was unhappy with his usage last season under Ancelotti. The Italian gaffer's reasoning that the Frenchman is "like a Ferrari, and you can't drive a Ferrari every day," apparently isn't good enough for Ribery.

"I am 34 years old, but I can play at the top level when I have my full fitness," Ribery told Sport Bild, courtesy of ESPN FC.

Pressed about Ancelotti's luxury automobile comparison, the French international added: "Maybe he's afraid I'll pick up an injury. But with me it's like that: When I know that I have to leave the pitch after 45 or 60 minutes, I am more likely to feel constrained."

Hampered by a slew of injury concerns, Ribery made just 14 starts in the league a year after a torn muscle saw his name appear in the starting XI a scant six times.

Now fully fit and taking part in the club's pre-season preparations, the latest of which was a 2-1 defeat to Arsenal on penalties in Shanghai, and Ribery is hoping to move past last season's frustrations.

"I am not completely happy with my last season. A substitution is hard to accept. I want to be out on the pitch for 90 minutes when I have full fitness."

Still, the crafty winger will not break ranks, and with competition on the left flank coming from summer signing James Rodriguez, Ribery admits he and Ancelotti have a good relationship.

"I was able to openly communicate it," Ribery added. "We talked a lot."
