Borussia Dortmund announced Tuesday that Peter Bosz has been hired as the club's new manager.

The Dutch gaffer will fill the void left by Thomas Tuchel - who departed the club just days after winning the DFB-Pokal final - after agreeing to a two-year contract.

"Borussia Dortmund are one of the 10 biggest clubs in the world," he told reporters, according to DW Sports. "I can't wait to see the legendary yellow wall."

"I was convinced that this was the right step for me when I spoke to Herr Watzke and Herr Zorc. I felt we could work well together."

He was previously under contract at Ajax until 2019, meaning Dortmund has likely reached an agreement with the Amsterdam side over a compensation package. Bosz spent one season with the Dutch giants and led the club to the Europa League final, where his men fell to Manchester United.

While in charge of Ajax, Bosz managed one of the brightest young talents in the game with Kaper Dolberg leading the charge in attack. However, hopes of the 19-year-old following in Bosz's footsteps to Dortmund likely won't come to fruition any time soon.

When asked if a move for Dolberg was in the works, Bosz jokingly responded,
"Yeah we're signing him tomorrow! (laughs) No, we're not discussing transfers today."

Ajax general manager and former United 'keeper Edwin van der Sar was proud of the performances under Bosz, but admitted he's sorry to see the 53-year-old leave after one season in Amsterdam.

"I have mixed feelings about this move," Van der Sar admitted on Ajax's website. "When we brought Peter to Ajax last summer it was not the intention that the partnership would end after one year.

"We have had a great season, especially in the Europa League. As with our players, the coach also attracts the attention of clubs from Europe’s top leagues."

Bosz, who will be formally introduced later in the day, takes over a Dortmund side that finished third last season.
