Borussia Dortmund suffered its fifth away defeat of the Bundesliga season Saturday as Hertha Berlin free-kick specialist Marvin Plattenhardt buried a close-range set-piece to finalise a 2-1 win for the host.
All seven of Plattenhardt's goals have come from direct free-kicks, according to Opta stats, but more importantly, it keeps Berlin well in the hunt for a Champions League qualification berth.
Former Chelsea midfielder Salomon Kalou opened the scoring with a simple tap-in in the 11th minute, and although BVB hot shot Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang levelled the match 10 minutes after the interval, the points escaped Thomas Tuchel's side.
Berlin is now just three points behind third-place Dortmund and two shy of Hoffenheim.
