Jake Paul: Andre August match 'probably just a break-even fight for me'
Jake Paul isn't expecting a big payday from his upcoming bout against Andre August.
During an appearance on FS1's TMZ Sports show, Paul said he's "forgoing a lot of money" in order to gain more experience and work toward his goal of becoming a world champion.
"This is probably just a break-even fight for me," the YouTuber-turned-boxer said. "I probably won't even make money on it. Who knows what the outcome is. It's $200,000 for a private jet to fly around just to get a team there and back."
"When you factor in all of these things, it's not about the money. It's really about focusing, staying sharp and the experience of challenging myself in the ring with these guys who have been doing this their whole life."
Paul and August are set to square off Dec. 15 in Orlando, Florida. This will be the most experienced boxing opponent yet for Paul, who has primarily faced retired MMA fighters thus far in his boxing career.
The 26-year-old Paul has a 7-1 record with four knockouts, while August, 35, is 10-1-1 with five knockouts.
