Josh Taylor will defend his WBO junior welterweight title against Teofimo Lopez on June 10 in New York, sources told ESPN's Mark Kriegel and Mike Coppinger.

The matchup will reportedly take place at either Madison Square Garden or the arena's smaller Hulu Theater.

"We're set on the fight," Lopez's manager, David McWater, told ESPN. "Teo is set on Josh Taylor like he was set on (Vasiliy) Lomachenko."

Taylor, who used to be the undisputed champion at 140 pounds, was scheduled to face Jack Catterall in a rematch in March, but the bout was called off after Taylor suffered an injury.

Lopez is a former unified lightweight champion. He earned that status in 2020 by defeating Lomachenko, but he lost all his belts in his first title defense against George Kambosos Jr. in November 2021. Lopez has rattled off two straight wins as a junior welterweight since then.

Taylor was able to move on from the Catterall rematch because Boxxer, the U.K.-based promoter of that fight, did not include rescheduling language in the contracts.
