Woodley thinks he'll KO Jake Paul in 3rd round

Tyron Woodley is expecting a relatively quick night at the office when he faces Jake Paul in August.

The former UFC welterweight champion predicted last week that he'll finish the YouTuber-turned-boxer in the third round of their scheduled eight-round boxing match.

"I think three," Woodley told Michael Bisping's "Believe You Me" podcast, according to MMA Fighting's Jed Meshew. "First round sounds cocky, sounds dope, but I just know that if I'm fighting Tyron Woodley, everyone is going to tell him to cover up, weather the storm, clinch him, grab him, keep him away from you, stay at distance, watch out for the right hand. I've got to set a couple traps so I may need a round or two to set some traps, see what he responds to. I think (in the) third round, I should be able to clean up the deal."

Paul is set to welcome Woodley to the boxing ring after the former champ parted ways with the UFC earlier in 2021 following his fourth straight loss. Paul is 3-0 as a professional boxer, with his most notable win coming against Woodley's friend and teammate Ben Askren in April.

Although Woodley is the slight underdog, the 39-year-old thinks Paul's team is setting up the internet personality for disaster.

"His people are gassing him up that he can win," Woodley said. "He accepted this fight, and I was very surprised he accepted this fight. They're gassing him up and they're giving him that, 'You've got the power. He's old. He ain't won a fight (in) a million years.' ... They're lying to this kid and they're going to get him f----- up.

"So, what's going to happen is, I'm going to beat him, I'm going knock him out, and hopefully it's not too bad where he doesn't want to do it again because I want to take the money again. I want to rob the bank twice."

Woodley mentioned a fight with Jake's older brother, fellow YouTube star-turned-boxer Logan Paul, as a possibility once he beats Jake on Aug. 28.

"I really don't have smoke with his brother Logan but shit, after he sees what I do to his brother, he might want to get the hands too."
