Gennadiy Golovkin will finally defend his IBF middleweight title against Kamil Szeremeta when they meet Dec. 18 at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino in Hollywood, Florida.

The two were originally slated to square off March 28, but the fight was postponed until June 6 after Golovkin suffered a calf injury. The bout was then delayed indefinitely due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Shortly before the announcement, GGG indicated that he was ready for his first title defense in over a year.

Golovkin's most recent fight took place last October when he beat Sergiy Derevyanchenko via unanimous decision for his 40th career win. All but five of the 38-year-old's victories have come via knockout.

Szeremeta, 31, enters next month's bout sporting a 21-0 record with five knockout wins. He last fought on the Golovkin-Derevyanchenko undercard, where he scored a knockout win against Oscar Cortes at Madison Square Garden. That victory made Szeremeta the mandatory IBF challenger.

The native of Bialystok, Poland, held the European middleweight title from 2018-2019.
