Mayweather's bodyguard shot en route to Atlanta hotel
Floyd Mayweather's bodyguard Gregory La Rosa was shot early Monday morning while the former boxing superstar and his entourage traveled to an Atlanta hotel, the Atlanta Police Department confirmed to Lauren Forman of The Atlanta Journal Constitution.
La Rosa was treated and released from hospital after suffering an injury to his leg.
Three vehicles were heading to the hotel, when another vehicle drove alongside Mayweather's SUV and began shooting.
"We believe that Mr. Mayweather may have been in one of the other vehicles in the caravan and was not injured,” Atlanta police spokesman Donald Hannah confirmed.
Police are attempting to confirm the shooter's intent.
"At this time, it appears that this was not a random shooting and the shooter was targeting the victim’s vehicle," Hannah said.
