Vasek Pospisil is moving on at the US Open after winning the battle of Canada against countryman Milos Raonic in the second round.

Pospisil bounced back after dropping the first set with an impressive performance to upset the 25th seed 6-7(1), 6-3, 7-6(4), 6-3 at Louis Armstrong Stadium.

It's the first time the 30-year-old has advanced to the third round at the US Open. He was previously 0-4 in the second round of the tournament.

Pospisil will take on the eighth-ranked Roberto Bautista Agut next.

Fellow Canadian Dennis Shapovalov will also compete in the third round after grinding out a win over Kwon Soon-woo on Wednesday. He'll take on Taylor Fritz.
