Daniil Medvedev is one win away from capping a spectacular summer.

The 23-year-old Russian booked a place in his first-ever Grand Slam final on Friday, ousting Grigor Dimitrov in what was, at least in the early going, an engrossing US Open clash.

Medvedev, who's rocketed up to No. 5 in the world on the back of a brilliant hard court swing, bested his Bulgarian counterpart 7-6 (5), 6-4, 6-3 at Arthur Ashe Stadium. After two grueling sets to kick things off, Dimitrov ran out of steam, allowing Medvedev to cruise in the third stanza.

He'll meet Rafael Nadal in Sunday's final.

Medvedev now holds a 20-2 record over the past six weeks and has racked up a circuit-best 50 wins in 2019.

He captured his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Western & Southern Open last month in Cincinnati and finished second in both Washington and Montreal earlier this summer.

Medvedev, who's made peace with the crowd at Flushing Meadows after a brief heel turn earlier in the tournament, has now reached the final in the last four events he's entered.
