Kyle Edmund, 21, pulled off a stunning upset of No. 13 seed Richard Gasquet in his US Open debut.

The 84th-ranked Brit won 6-2, 6-2, 6-3 on Monday against the 2013 US Open semifinalist. Edmund, who has twice made it to the second round at the French Open, had 40 winners.

"Not sure I could do worse," said Gasquet, who hadn't lost in the first round at a major since 2010 at Roland Garros.

It was the first career victory over a player ranked in the top 15 for Edmund. Meanwhile, the result makes Gasquet the first seeded player to lose at the US Open.
