Jack Sock and Bethanie Mattek-Sands captured gold in mixed doubles at Rio 2016, the American duo defeating compatriots Venus Williams and Rajeev Ram in Sunday's final.

Sock and Mattek-Sands recovered from an opening-set loss to emerge victorious, 6-7, 6-1, 10-7 (tiebreak).

It didn't end the way she would have hoped, but leaving Rio with silver does see Williams move into a tie for the most Olympic tennis medals of all time, pulling even on five with Kathleen McKane. Williams' career haul now sits at four gold and one silver.

The gold caps off a memorable week for Sock, who leaves Rio with a pair of medals after also winning bronze in men's doubles.
