The Alliance of American Football is off to a strong start.

The league's first games, which aired Saturday on CBS, averaged 2.913 million viewers, according to Sports TV Ratings.

By comparison, the broadcast topped the Oklahoma City Thunder-Houston Rockets game in head-to-head overnight ratings, sources told Action Network's Darren Rovell. The NBA contest on ABC drew 2.524 million viewers.

The new league also made waves in the app store, topping the recent download charts for both the Apple Store and Google Play.

In the opening two AAF matchups, the Orlando Apollos defeated the Atlanta Legends 40-6, while the San Antonio Commanders topped the San Diego Fleet 15-6.
