Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones believes Dak Prescott can help the franchise fulfill its Super Bowl aspirations.

"I totally think Dak can lead us to a championship," Jones said in an interview on "Schein on Sports." "He does everything the right way. He's certainly the leader of this football team. He keeps everybody motivated in the offseason. He's got everybody working out and doing all the things that it takes to put in the work to give yourself every opportunity to win a championship."

Prescott is set to enter the final year of his current deal. He'll account for a $55.1-million cap hit in 2024, per Over the Cap. His contract stipulates that the Cowboys can't place the franchise tag on him in 2025 and also includes a no-trade clause.

The three-time Pro Bowl passer authored an impressive 2023 season in which he threw a league-leading 36 touchdowns to go along with 4,516 passing yards and nine interceptions with a 105.9 passer rating.

Dallas finds itself in the difficult position of negotiating contracts with three of its top stars. The franchise has been unable to reach an agreement with Prescott, while star wideout CeeDee Lamb is also entering the final year of his current contract and scheduled to hit free agency in 2025. Two-time All-Pro pass-rusher Micah Parsons is eligible for an extension.

The dynamic trio has been key to the Cowboys' recent success. Dallas has produced three consecutive 12-win seasons. However, the club has struggled to orchestrate a postseason run, winning just one playoff game over the last three years.

Jones believes the Cowboys endured some "tough breaks" and "tough games," but he's confident the franchise is capable of bringing another Lombardi back to the Lone Star State.

"We've just gotta go up there and grab it, to use a basketball term, and dunk it in. We're hanging around the rim. We just got to get the job done," Jones said.
