Watch: Emotional Mulkey apologizes again for controversial Baylor comment

Baylor women's basketball coach Kim Mulkey apologized again Thursday, amid mounting criticism following her suggestion that critics of the school should be punched in the face.

The Bears coach landed in hot water Saturday when she said while celebrating her 500th career victory, "If somebody around you and they ever say, 'I will never send my daughter to Baylor,' you knock them right in the face." Mulkey attempted to clarify her stance Thursday.

"I'm sorry for those choice of words, timing wasn't good, poor analogy as well, because if you know me I'm an emotional person, coached and coached with emotion," Mulkey told reporters. "It all got the best of me, because I love this place, a lot of bad things happened here, but I've always thought about the victims."

It's the second time Mulkey has expressed regret for the remark, which was made in response to a sexual assault scandal involving the football program that continues to hang over the school. Mulkey said sorry for her "very poor choice of words" in an interview with espnW on Sunday, the day after the comment, but she caught more flak after refusing to address it with reporters following Tuesday's game.

"My heart goes out for those victims, how could I not be," Mulkey said Thursday. "I have a daughter and all of those girls in that locker room. I'm encouraged, one crime against anyone is too many.

"I've had a wonderful experience with a daughter at this University. Parents that send me their daughters can tell you the same. I'll be alright."

The veteran coach owns the distinction of being the first person in NCAA history to win a national championship as a player, assistant coach, and head coach.
