Kaka urges Iker Casillas to join MLS

Orlando City designated player Kaka wants to be reunited with former Real Madrid teammate Iker Casillas in Major League Soccer, but concedes that he may have to wait beyond this summer for that to happen.

Casillas has been occupying a spot between the sticks for FC Porto since last summer and has been offered to extend his stay at the Estadio do Dragao until the end of the 2016-17 season. He has, however, reportedly been a target of New York City FC in the past.

"I would like Casillas to come (to MLS) next year, but he told me he wants to stay in Portugal and play a little bit," Kaka told Cadena Cope via MLSSoccer.com.

"He's still a great name in world football and I think he likes the idea of coming to play here."

Casillas has 166 caps with Spain - a record for the national team - and is expected to appear in his seventh consecutive major tournament in this summer's Euro 2016 finals in France. In addition to his two European Championships and World Cup at international level, he has also plundered five La Liga titles and three Champions League winners' medals.

Kaka has already renewed a relationship in Florida with former club colleague Julio Baptista joining last week. Both could feature when Orlando City hosts the Portland Timbers on Sunday.
