Anderlecht's late goal stings Manchester United in Belgium

Manchester United is in the driver's seat, but RSC Anderlecht will be travelling to Old Trafford with a little bit of hope.

On Thursday night, in the first leg of the tie between United and Anderlecht in the quarter-finals of the Europa League, the Red Devils pocketed an away goal at Constant Vanden Stock Stadium but were ultimately held to a 1-1 draw.

Anderlecht looked dangerous through the match's first 10 minutes, but United eventually took control, hogging possession and dictating the play. In the 37th minute, the Red Devils' pressure was rewarded, as Henrikh Mkhitaryan put the English club ahead by rushing to a rebound after Ruben Martinez got a hand to a right-footed shot from Marcus Rashford.

Although United were the better team for the majority of the game, the Red Devils failed to score in the second half and were punished in the 86th minute. Ivan Obradovic burst down the left wing and curled a high cross towards the far post, where Leander Dendoncker leaped above Matteo Darmian and smashed a header past Sergio Romero.

United is unbeaten in seven fixtures in European competition, and the second leg of the tie is scheduled for April 20 at Old Trafford.
