Manchester United will be without Wayne Rooney and Anthony Martial once again after manager Jose Mourinho ruled the pair out of Thursday's Europa League Round of 16 clash with FC Rostov.

Both players were absent during Monday's 1-0 loss to Chelsea in the FA Cup, as well as the first leg in Russia, where United and Rostov drew 1-1.

Mourinho confirmed that Rooney is dealing with a knee problem, and that he will enter the match with the same squad that was available to face Chelsea.

Martial has been unable to overcome an undisclosed injury and has yet to begin training.

The United boss will, however, have the luxury of selecting Zlatan Ibrahimovic for the first time since the first leg after the Swedish striker was forced to miss the last two domestic matches due to a three-match ban for elbowing Bournemouth defender Tyrone Mings.

"Martial was injured for the Chelsea match," Mourinho told reporters. "He couldn't be selected for the Chelsea match and, if you are injured for the Monday night game, you're injured for the Tuesday morning training session. And if you are injured for the Tuesday morning training session, it's not because of today that you can be able to play on Thursday. So he's out of my mind.

"I don't think about him, we have the same players we had in the last match plus Ibrahimovic returning for the Europa League.

"Rooney is injured. He had some kick in his knee area, so he can't even come out to the pitch. He stays inside the medical department."
