Report: Inter quartet left off Europa League squad due to FFP regulations

Internazionale will be without newcomers Gabriel Barbosa and Joao Mario, as well as last season's arrivals Geoffrey Kondogbia and Stevan Jovetic in Europa League play as the club failed to turnover enough profit in 2016 to avoid Financial Fair Play restrictions.

The quartet were left off of Inter's submitted roster for the continental competition as a result of FFP rules that limit the club from overspending; Inter has spent more than it has brought in for the last three years.

ESPN FC reports that the Italian outfit has spent approximately €215 million while bringing in just €90 million in return, forcing Inter to leave its newcomers off the team.

Still, Inter does have a few new faces in its Europa League squad this season.

Ever Banega is another recent addition, the Argentine joining the club on a free transfer, while Antonio Candreva's €25-million fee was offset when the Nerazzurri sold Mateo Kovacic to Real Madrid last year.

Manager Frank De Boer will need to wait for the club to tie up its financial loose ends before he can field a full-strength Inter side in European competition.
