Trabzonspor begins talks with FC Dallas over Fabian Castillo sale
Less than a day after FC Dallas released a statement revealing there is no deal in place for Fabian Castillo to leave the club, Trabzonspor has claimed negotiations are now underway for a potential transfer of the Colombian.
The saga surrounding Castillo is arguably surpassing Paul Pogba proportions after the rumour-quashing words from FC Dallas on Monday have been roundly contradicted by the Turkish Super Lig outfit under a day later.
The fleet-footed winger has been a revelation since moving to Major League Soccer from Deportivo Cali in 2011, gradually improving to one of the standout players in North American soccer. Now, after failing to show up for a match with the Colorado Rapids on July 23 to travel to Trabzon without permission, he could be leaving the continent for good.
Various images have previously surfaced on social media which support rumours that Castillo has been in Turkey for some time looking to engineer a switch:
The 24-year-old's seemingly imminent departure will be a substantial loss for the Frisco franchise. Castillo has continued to bamboozle MLS contemporaries in 2016, bagging five goals and five assists over 20 starts. The outfit does sit atop the Western Conference, however, with a six-point cushion over the second-placed Rapids.
