Milik paraded to Napoli fans after arriving from Ajax

Napoli has begun spending the proceeds from Gonzalo Higuain's mammoth move to Juventus, securing the services of Polish striker Arkadiusz Milik from Ajax on Monday.

The fee is reported to be €25 million plus an additional €5 million in bonuses. Milik is expected to sign a five-year contract with the Serie A club.

The 22-year-old was presented to fans before Napoli's friendly against Nice at the Stadio San Paolo - the night of the club's 90th anniversary celebration. President Aurelio De Laurentiis confirmed the player's arrival on Twitter ahead of the unveiling.

Napoli successfully convinced Ajax to give up Milik, even though the Dutch side stated earlier in July that it wouldn't entertain offers for the highly rated striker. Everton was also linked with the player.

He'll now replace Higuain as Napoli's main target man, although it would take a great feat to get anywhere close to the league-record 36 goals the Argentine scored for the club last season. Manolo Gabbiadini will also compete for minutes in the forward position.

Milik is coming off a deep run with Poland at Euro 2016, where his country made history as a first-time quarter-finalist in the competition.

On a personal level, he left a lot to be desired, fluffing quality chances in front of goal. He ended the tournament with just a single strike to his name - a far cry from his domestic exploits with Ajax.

In the Eredivisie last season, he racked up 21 tallies and registered seven assists in 31 league matches as Ajax finished behind PSV in the race for the title.
