Sporting Kansas City coach Peter Vermes announced Monday that a sale of Dom Dwyer currently isn't an option after confirming the club rejected a bid from Olympiacos for the English forward.

The Greek side approached the Major League Soccer club with an offer believed to be worth $3 million, according to Goal.com, but Vermes explained that the bid didn't make sense for Dwyer or the club.

"There’s a lot of different moving parts in these deals — both for the club and the player," Vermes told Sam McDowell of the Kansas City Star. "Everybody has to be comfortable with that. I would say right now, we’re not (comfortable) — neither of us are.

"So it’s simple: Based on what the structure and situation is, we’re not considering it at the moment."

While Vermes didn't outline the exact reasons, the Kansas City star points out that Dwyer's wife, Sydney Leroux, currently plays for FC Kansas City in the National Women's Soccer League and that the couple is expecting a baby.

Vermes added that he's not averse when it comes to entertaining offers, saying that his players will always have an opportunity to have a say on whether to stay or leave.

"When a transfer or deal is offered on a player, we’re always going to consider it in conjunction with the player," he said. "I’ve always maintained that with all the players at the club, so there’s nothing different with Dom. So did we listen? Sure. But it doesn’t mean we’re going to act on it."

News of the transfer offer comes a day after Dwyer scored a brace against the Seattle Sounders in a 3-0 victory to bring the 25-year-old's team-leading tally to 10 goals in 20 league matches.
