Julio Cesar signs 2-year contract extension with Benfica
Portuguese outfit SL Benfica announced Wednesday the signing of Brazilian goalkeeper Julio Cesar to a two-year contract extension, his first since joining the club in August of 2014.
The new deal runs until the end of the 2017-18 season.
While Cesar is no longer the starting choice at the club - with 21-year-old 'keeper Ederson getting the nod near the end of the 2015-16 campaign - he still managed to make 34 appearances last season.

Cesar, 36, joined Benfica after spending time with Queens Park Rangers, where he fell out of favour and subsequently out of the picture for Brazil's national team ahead of the 2014 FIFA World Cup.
A loan move to Major League Soccer outfit Toronto FC restored Cesar to a starting role and a move to the European powerhouse in Portugal.
He has made 64 appearances for Benfica in the last two seasons, winning the domestic title in both the 2014-15 and 2015-16 seasons, as well as the Portuguese league cup in 2014-15.
