Mancini suspended 1 match for insulting 4th official in Milan derby

Inter Milan manager Roberto Mancini has received a one-match suspension and a €5,000 fine for directing an insult to the fourth official and targeting spectators with an "insulting gesture" during Sunday's derby against AC Milan, the Lega Serie A confirmed.

The incident occurred as Mancini reacted to what he believed to be a penalty in the second half. Milan goalkeeper Gianluigi Donnarumma appeared to take down Inter forward Eder in the penalty area, but referee Antonio Damato didn't see enough to issue a spot-kick.

Mancini was eventually sent off for showing dissent. On his way into the tunnel, the 51-year-old was caught on video giving supporters the middle finger.

Mancini proceeded to criticise the officials in his postmatch interview, describing their performance in Inter's 3-0 loss as a "disaster" and claiming they didn't know the rules.

"I apologise to the fans for an angry gesture that I shouldn't have made," he wrote on Twitter following the tirade.

Inter is struggling to recapture its form from the beginning of the season. With just one win in its past six Serie A matches, the Nerazzurri are now outside of a Champions League spot.
