Following Juventus' 4-0 defeat of Chievo earlier on Sunday, Napoli was looking to leapfrog The Old Lady and regain a two-point advantage atop of Serie A.
An effort from Leandro Paredes had Empoli unexpectedly ahead at the Stadio San Paolo, but a quickfire double from the relentless Gonzalo Higuain and Lorenzo Insigne snatched the lead for the home side. The latter's free-kick was made to look extremely easy:
