The Italian takeover of Swansea City is underway.

On Thursday, one day after it was reported that Swansea agreed to a fee of £8 million for Chievo Verona's Alberto Paloschi, Francesco Guidolin confirmed the Swans are indeed on the verge of signing the 26-year-old striker.

"He is coming and I hope he will score many goals," Guidolin said, according to the Press Association. "He was my player when we worked together at Parma and he will be important for us."

Swansea has reportedly made the signing of a striker its top priority in the January transfer window, and personal terms of Paloschi's impending transfer have apparently been agreed upon, raising questions over Bafetimbi Gomis' future at Liberty Stadium.

Paloschi has tallied eight goals and two assists through 21 Serie A appearances this season, and has scored 42 goals in 144 Serie A appearances since he joined Chievo in 2011.
