Inter Milan optimistic about Eder transfer as window nears close
Inter Milan is closing in on Sampdoria forward Eder, according to coach Roberto Mancini and club vice-president Javier Zanetti, with the club hopeful that a deal can be reached by the end of the January transfer window.
The Italian striker has turned heads after an impressive 2015-16 campaign, having scored 13 goals in 25 appearances in all competitions for both club and country, and Mancini would be happy to bring him on board at the San Siro.
"I don't know how the situation is right now, but I think he could be very useful to us in the league," Mancini told RAI television, as quoted by ESPN FC's Ben Gladwell.
Inter isn't the only team in contention for Eder's signature, however; Premier League outfit Leicester City has also been linked heavily with the Sampdoria man.
But Zanetti is positive he and his club can get a deal done soon.
"We are negotiating and we're at a good stage," Zanetti said. "Soon, there will be some news."
