Agent: Gonzalo Higuain not looking for exit from Napoli
Gonzalo Higuain's agent dismissed suggestions that his client is looking to engineer a move from Napoli, saying the forward is focused on winning a Serie A title with the club.
The Argentina international has scored an impressive nine goals in 12 appearances this term, showing the form which encouraged the Partenopei to part with €30 million for him in 2013.
"Three years ago Gonzalo chose Napoli and you can see how much this club means to him by what he is doing on the pitch," Higuain's agent (who is also his brother) Nicolas Higuain told Italian radio station Radio Crc, as reported by Sky Sports.
With a lack of out-and-out striking talent in world football right now, the 27-year-old's fine run has inevitably caught the eye of numerous outfits across Europe. But Higuain, who collected three La Liga titles and a Copa del Rey medal at Real Madrid before his move to Campania, is firmly set on following in the footsteps of an Argentinian legend and becoming an Italian champion.
"His dream, since the first day he set foot in Naples, is to win the scudetto with Napoli," Nicolas said. "Diego Maradona won the scudetto with Napoli in his third year at the club and we hope this will be a good sign."
Napoli is currently only two points off the pace in a tight Serie A table. Fiorentina and Inter Milan are tied for first with 27 points, and Maurizio Sarri's side sits in fourth behind Roma, who has 26 points.
