Croatian striker Mario Mandzukic ruled out of 2 Euro 2016 qualifiers

Croatian national team striker Mario Mandzukic is set to miss Euro 2016 qualifiers against Bulgaria and Malta due to a hamstring injury.

"Unfortunately, Mandzukic cannot play due to a hamstring injury," national team doctor Boris Nemec said.

"He has been examined on Wednesday and concluded that he will not feature in these matches," Nemec said, courtesy of ESPN FC.

The 62-time capped Mandzukic will return to his club side Juventus in preparation of the Old Lady's visit to the San Siro for Oct. 18 match against Inter Milan.

"He will be back to full training in two weeks, without risking injury recurrence," Nemec said. "Of course, he was not happy with these news, bit his health comes first."

Mandzukic's hamstring issue will only add to the misery of Juventus supporters experiencing a dismal start to the Serie A campaign, as he becomes the second marquee player to suffer a setback during the international break following Paul Pogba's ankle injury in training.
