AC Milan midfielder Andrea Bertolacci set to miss derby vs. Inter
AC Milan will face cross-town rival Inter this weekend without its €20-million signing.
Midfielder Andrea Bertolacci is out of the derby with a thigh problem, Milan confirmed in a statement on Monday. The 24-year-old suffered the injury on international duty with Italy, and he was forced to leave camp prematurely.
"AC Milan announces that Andrea Bertolacci underwent medical tests earlier today for a thigh injury which revealed a minor tear in the adductor muscle area," the club said. "The Italian midfielder will have further tests next week."
Bertolacci did not feature in Italy's 1-0 win over Bulgaria on Sunday.
The news leaves a hole in a crucial position for the Rossoneri, but it could allow club captain Riccardo Montolivo a chance to regain his spot in the starting XI after spending the first two Serie A matches on the bench.
