Report: Liverpool accepts £10M bid from Sunderland for Fabio Borini
Sunderland appears to have beaten out Inter Milan for the right to sign Liverpool forward Fabio Borini.
The Premier League's basement dwellers are expected to complete the deal before the transfer window closes after Liverpool accepted its £10-million bid, according to Sky Sports.
The offer eclipses Inter Milan's reported £6-million attempt to sign the 24-year-old, as Borini looks set to rejoin the club he spent the 2013-14 season with on loan.
Borini played an important role in ensuring the Black Cats avoided relegation during his stint at the Stadium of Light. He made 36 appearances and scored seven goals during his eight-month stay.
The move should benefit both sides as Liverpool manager Brendan Rodgers has failed to find a regular place for Borini in the first team. Meanwhile, the transfer will meet Sunderland boss Dick Advocaat's objective of acquiring a quality signing to help the club prevent another battle to avoid relegation.
