Carlos Tevez omitted from Argentina squad for upcoming friendlies
Despite recently saying he was set to offer Carlos Tevez an international lifeline, Argentina manager Gerardo Martino has omitted the 30-year-old Juventus superstar from his latest squad.
Tevez, who was also left off Argentina's World Cup squad and hasn't featured for La Albiceleste since 2011, has been in fine form at Juventus. He notched two goals in the club's first three Serie A matches as well as both goals in their 2-0 win over Malmo FF in the Champions League.
However, Martino made it clear that he only views Tevez as a No. 9, putting him in direct competition with Napoli's Gonzalo Higuain and Manchester City's Sergio Aguero, players who were included in Argentina's squad on Monday.
Argentina will take on Brazil on Oct. 11 in Beijing, before meeting Hong Kong three days later.
