Roma president reiterates Strootman is not for sale: UK newspapers 'are wasting paper'

Roma president James Pallotta is getting annoyed by the rumors linking midfielder Kevin Strootman with a move to Manchester United.

The Dutch midfielder has been the center of attention from British newspapers since the closure of the transfer window, with numerous reports claiming that United will look to finalize a deal during the January window.

Monday, Pallotta attempted to stop to the incessant speculation for good.

"There has been non-stop reporting in UK newspapers about Kevin Strootman and Manchester United," Pallotta was quoted as saying by Roma's official Twitter account.

"Kevin Strootman is not for sale and has never ever been discussed in that vein at Roma. They are wasting paper. We consider Kevin an integral highly valued partner in our long term plans."

It's unlikely this changes anything, but it can't hurt to try.

As Juventus and Arturo Vidal will attest, once the British tabloids are locked in on something, you're in it for the long haul.
