AS Monaco sign Maarten Stekelenburg on season-long loan from Fulham

Following a season to forget at Fulham, Maarten Stekelenbuerg will look to get his career back on track on the other side of the English Channel.

Stekelenburg conceded an average of 2.53 goals in 19 appearances in 2013-14 as Fulham were relegated from the Premier League upon finishing 19th. The campaign marked a low point in the career of the 31-year-old Dutch 'keeper, who only four years ago was turning heads while guiding the Netherlands to the World Cup final.

"I am happy to be a part of the project of the club," Stekelenburg told AS Monaco's official website. "I am fully going to give myself for my new colors. I am a 'technical' goalkeeper. I like playing far from my goals and helping the team."
