Argentina international Gonzalo Higuain can focus fully on his team's World Cup Final on Sunday as his club team in Italy revealed Saturday that they have no intention of selling him.

"I'd say that Higuain is not to be taken," Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentiis told Gazzetta dello Sport via Sky Sports. "He's ours and we keep him. Also because in his contract there is a release clause of €100 million (£79.5m).

"He's our pride, he's in the World Cup final and he will score against Germany."

Higuain made his way to Rafa Benitez's side last season for a club record £34.5 million and rewarded the Partenopei with 23 goals in 42 games in all competitions.

The 26-year-old was loosely linked to Barcelona, as Argentina teammate and Barcelona star Lionel Messi recently said he'd love for Higuain to join him at the Nou Camp, but the Napoli striker politely declined.

"I am really grateful to Leo (Messi) for his kind words but I have a contract with Napoli that makes me very happy.

"The Partenopei club (Napoli) has always treated me very well since I arrived there."
