Milan 'keeper Abbiati hints it's time to quit

MILAN, Dec 19, 2013 - Veteran goalkeeper Christian Abbiati has hinted that this season could be his last in the Italian top flight if AC Milan fail to offer him a new contract

Abbiati, who has been with the Serie A giants since 1998, will see his current deal expire at the end of the season.

The 36-year-old, who during his 15-year spell with the club has been loaned to Juventus, Torino and Atletico Madrid, said he would likely hang up his boots if a new deal is not forthcoming.

"It's normal when you're about to turn 37 that some injury problems can catch up with you," Abbiati told the club's website www.acmilan.it.

"We train every day and even the younger players have problems. I'm available, though it's not set in stone that I always have to be the first choice.

"Obviously if the club says enough is enough, then that's it. I'd say that if I don't a sign a new contract here, it's 90% sure that I'll quit playing."
