Berisha to the rescue as Atalanta moves up to 4th
Milan - Goalkeeper Etrit Berisha pulled off a pair of late saves as Europa League-chasing Atalanta held on for a precious 3-2 win over Bologna Saturday to move up to fourth in Serie A.
First-half goals from Andrea Conti and Remo Freuler gave Gian Piero Gaperini's high-flying side a 2-1 lead at the interval after Bologna striker Matteo Destro had pulled one back for the visitor with a cheeky volley on the quarter-hour.
Although Bologna's hopes of a comeback win were boosted by Federico Di Francesco's leveller on the hour, Mattia Caldara restored Atalanta's one-goal advantage in the 75th minute when he got to a nod-down from a corner to poke past Angelo Da Costa.
Bologna, though, battled to the finish and Albanian 'keeper Berisha was forced down low twice in the closing minutes to keep out shots from Di Francesco and Destro.
In what is its best season to date, Atalanta's 19th win of the campaign moved it up to fourth, two points ahead of Lazio, 17 behind leader Juventus and seven behind Napoli, who occupies the third and last Champions League qualifying spot.
Juventus, who boasts an eight-point cushion over Roma, can take a step towards a record sixth-consecutive Scudetto with a win at home to Genoa on Sunday.
Roma is away at Pescara on Monday while Lazio can move back up to fourth with a win over Palermo at the Stadio Olimpico.
In Saturday's late game, embattled Inter Milan travels to Fiorentina looking to relaunch its bid for a Europa League spot.
Without a win from their past four league games, Stefano Pioli's men have slipped to seventh to sit five points behind Lazio, in fifth.
