Nainggolan on potential Chelsea move: 'Bring me the sun and I'll come'

Roma midfielder Radja Nainggolan has confirmed Antonio Conte's efforts to lure him to Chelsea last summer, and the Belgian international concedes that it's a move that interests him, on one condition.

"Yes, I talked to him. They were really interested and wanted me. That's all I can say," Nainggolan told L'Equipe, before adding in jest, "Bring me the sun and I'll come."

Nainggolan, who is away on international duty with Belgium ahead of the Red Devils' visit from Greece on Saturday, may want to look elsewhere if he fancies a bit of good weather. If he'd prefer winning the league, he could do worst than join N'Golo Kante in Chelsea's near-impenetrable midfield.

And if there's one player starring in Serie A who's built for the physical rigours of Premier League play, it's the tough-tackling Antwerp antagoniser Nainggolan. In 28 Serie A matches this season, the 28-year-old has paired nine goals with three assists playing in a central position for Luciano Spalletti's second-place side.

With the better part of the Belgian national team plying its trade in England's top flight, Nainggolan has plenty of friends in the Premier League likely coercing the player whose contract expires at the Stadio Olimpico in 2020 to make the jump.

"I watch the Premier League a lot. A lot of my international teammates play there. I think it's the best league in the world. When the transfer market opens, we'll talk about it again."
