Argentina's Dybala won't play against Chile in World Cup qualifying
If Argentina is to gain some revenge on Thursday, La Albiceleste will have to do it without Paulo Dybala.
On Wednesday, Edgardo Bauza announced Dybala will not play in Argentina's 2018 World Cup qualifier versus Chile at El Monumental, adding work is being done to see if the product of Instituto ACC can play when La Albiceleste visits Bolivia on Tuesday.
Dybala suffered an injury to his left thigh during Juventus' 1-0 Serie A victory at UC Sampdoria. Notably, he missed Argentina's 2018 World Cup qualifiers in November after sustaining a severe knock to the posterior region of his right thigh.
Bauza's announcement comes at a worrying time for Argentina. La Albiceleste is fifth as CONMEBOL's 2018 World Cup qualifying enters the final third, and only four national teams qualify automatically, while whoever finishes fifth must take on an opponent from Oceania in a two-legged play-off.
Only one point separates Argentina and Chile, and, if Colombia defeats Bolivia as expected, La Albiceleste will drop to sixth by failing to tally at least one point against its neighbour.
