Partly to blame for AS Roma's implosion in the Champions League, Emerson Palmieri is making amends in the Europa League.
Emerson scored the opening goal in Thursday's tie between Roma and Villarreal in the Europa League's Round of 32. After taking the ball away from Samu Castillejo, the Brazilian left-back drifted in and, using his right foot, fired a 25-yard shot past the outstretched fingertips of Sergio Asenjo.
In the Champions League's play-off round, Roma was drawn against FC Porto and, in the second leg, Emerson received a red card only eight minutes after taking the pitch as a substitute. The Giallorossi were left with nine men and the Dragao went on to win the tie 4-1 on aggregate.
