Inter lodges appeal for Icardi, Perisic suspensions

Internazionale announced Thursday the club has appealed recent disciplinary sanctions against two of its players after Mauro Icardi and Ivan Perisic were handed two-match bans for their behaviour in a 1-0 loss to Juventus.

The two faced punishment as a result of their conduct toward referee Nicola Rizzoli, with Perisic issued a straight red card for "a series of seriously disrespectful expressions to the match referee," according to a Serie A-issued statement that followed the match.

Meanwhile, Icardi was retroactively banned for "making insults and rude gestures to the referee as well as (kicking) the ball at him, without hitting him," the statement added.

Inter's players were upset after a penalty appeal was turned down by Rizzoli, leading to Icardi and Perisic lashing out as the match grew more and more heated. Inter's appeal seemingly came after the club was given access to the referee's report, as requested.
