Milan loses Bonaventura, De Sciglio in harrowing defeat to Udinese
AC Milan has hit a wall.
The Rossoneri's skid continued on Sunday, reaching its lowest point with a bitterly disappointing 2-1 defeat to Udinese; Vincenzo Montella's side has now won just one of its last six Serie A matches.
The result not only saw the club fail to make up ground on fellow European hopefuls, but also came at a potentially devastating cost.
Vital midfielder Giacomo Bonaventura, who scored the opening goal of the contest, suffered an apparent hamstring issue in the first half, and the injury concerns were exacerbated in the second stanza with the loss of Mattia De Sciglio.
The versatile full-back was lost after being on the receiving end of an atrocious tackle from Rodrigo De Paul, the Argentine planting his cleats into the Italian's ankle and leaving him in a heap.
Somehow, he avoided a sending off for the dangerous challenge.
To make matters infinitely worse for Milan supporters, De Paul went down the other end of the pitch and fired home the winning goal with De Sciglio still down.
Milan will look to stop the bleeding next week against Sampdoria.
