Palermo makes 11th coaching change in 12 months

The coaching carousel is spinning again at Palermo.

Manager Roberto De Zerbi lost his job at the helm of the Sicilian side after failing to win Wednesday in the Coppa Italia against second-tier Spezia.

It's the 11th time trigger-happy president Maurizio Zamparini has made a coaching change since November 2015.

Eugenio Corini, who previously managed Chievo in the Italian top flight, has accepted the ill-fated role on a permanent basis.

In a statement, Palermo didn't even acknowledge De Zerbi's firing. The 37-year-old was the youngest coach in Serie A, having developed an attacking style of play in the lower tiers of Italian football.

He paid the price for a string of losses at home, as well as Wednesday's embarrassing shootout defeat to Spezia.

Palermo's lost its seven Serie A matches at the Stadio Renzo Barbera this season.

The Rosanero are dead last with six points from 14 league fixtures.
