Boca's Carlos Tevez pondering retirement

Carlos Tevez has admitted he's considering his future beyond this season after encountering various elements of the Argentinian game that have irritated him while on Boca Juniors duty.

The 32-year-old was thinking of retirement when his hometown club was downed in the Copa Libertadores semi-finals by Ecuadorian upstart Independiente del Valle in the summer, but since opted to continue playing for Boca.

But he's now rethinking that decision since scoring but also receiving his marching orders in Sept. 11's 3-0 triumph over Belgrano in the Primera Division.

"This is tiring," he told Ole, with translation from ESPN FC. "I will be talking with my family and with the people I need to talk to. Yes, I would consider retirement, but I would like to play for the rest of my life with this club. Coming into the Bombonera on Sundays is what makes me happy."

Tevez was handed a three-match ban for the red card in his last outing, a punishment the indefatigable forward deems excessive and one indirectly sanctioned by the country's media.

"I think the penalty was given to me by journalists and not the committee," he told reporters. "The journalists pushed to give me three matches, it really just should have been a slap on the wrist."

The running of the Argentine Football Association has fallen foul of many of its representatives in recent years, with Lionel Messi threatening to retire from the international game just days after voicing his displeasure at the body's poor organisation at the Copa America Centenario.

And it appears the AFA's shortcomings aren't just linked to the national team.

"The organisation is terrible," Tevez, who has notably represented Manchester United, Manchester City, and Juventus, complained about the league scheduling. "In Europe you know on what date you'll play each team for the first six months. Here you can't plan anything,"

Tevez does appreciate that his form hasn't been up to the level required to merit his first international appearance in nearly a year, though.

In the 2015 and 2016 campaigns, the veteran attacker tallied nine strikes in 23 league appearances for Boca Juniors.
