Watch: Higuain nets tight-angled winner on Juventus debut

Gonzalo Higuain emerged from the substitutes' bench to bang in the winner for Juventus on his official club debut Saturday.

On the pitch for just nine second-half minutes against Fiorentina, the €90-million summer signing found a free ball in the penalty box and drove it in from a tight angle to secure a 2-1 victory.

Sami Khedira opened the scoring with a resolute header in the first stanza, while Fiorentina's Nikola Kalinic equalised with one of his own in the 70th minute.

But Higuain - whose fitness has been questioned in the close season - showed his quality with just his third touch of the match.

The weight of the transfer fee appeared to be lifted as Higuain celebrated the goal with unbridled enthusiasm.

The 29-year-old joined the Bianconeri in July after sealing a highly acrimonious transfer from Napoli. He broke the 20-team Serie A scoring record last season with 36 goals, but it wasn't enough to hand the Partenopei a first Italian championship since the days of Maradona.
