Lazio signs Angolan defender Bastos

Lazio manager Simone Inzaghi made a further amendment to his backline on Wednesday, acquiring central defender Bartolomeu Jacinto Quissanga - better known as Bastos.

The Angolan was left out of FC Rostov's Champions League play-off draw Tuesday at Ajax Amsterdam as the final formalities of the transfer were thrashed out, and now both clubs confirmed an agreement has been reached.

No contract duration has been disclosed in the Italian capital, but Bastos, 24, follows left-back Jordan Lukaku and fellow centre-half Wallace into a new-look, youthful defence moulded by Inzaghi.

Bastos was voted best defender in the Russian Premier League last season and helped Rostov's push to become one of the strongest sides in the country since moving from Petro Luanda in his homeland in 2013. The western Russia outfit finished second in the nation's top flight in 2015-16.

Rostov tweeted photos on Wednesday showing club representatives thanking Bastos for his contributions over the past three years:

Following a season of supporter unrest and a limp eighth-placed finish, Lazio begins the upcoming term Sunday with a trip to Atalanta.
