AC Milan's Menez on Bordeaux's radar

AC Milan attacking midfielder Jeremy Menez could be headed back to Ligue 1.

Bordeaux president Jean-Louis Triaud confirmed his club's interest in Menez, who's no longer considered a starter for the Rossoneri.

"He's among the people that we're looking at," Triaud told RMC, according to ESPN FC's Mark Rodden. "Nothing is impossible at Bordeaux. We have several irons in the fire - we can't bank on one player."

Sky Sport's Gianluca Di Marzio added more credence to the rumours Thursday, reporting Bordeaux and Milan had reached an agreement. Menez could even complete a medical as early as Monday.

A transfer would mark an end to a topsy-turvy tenure with the struggling Serie A outfit. Menez led Milan in scoring with 16 league goals during the 2014-15 campaign as Filippo Inzaghi's main reference point, but a back injury limited him to just two starts last season under Sinisa Mijhalovic and interim manager Cristian Brocchi.

Questions over his behaviour and attitude have racked the 29-year-old his entire career, and they didn't stop over the past two years. He reportedly refused to warm up during a 1-1 draw against Lazio in March, although he eventually emerged as a substitute for Keisuke Honda. The Frenchman wasn't influential in the final six minutes of play.

"If it turns out he didn't feel like playing, I'll take care of him," Mijhalovic, Milan's manager at the time, is quoted as saying.

Menez last played in Ligue 1 for Paris Saint-Germain before joining Milan on a free transfer. He also featured for Sochaux and Monaco.
