Zidane admits Real Madrid remains interested in Pogba

Real Madrid isn't done in the Paul Pogba chase just yet.

Despite reports of Manchester United tabling a world-record bid of £100.4 million for the Juventus midfielder, Los Blancos manager Zinedine Zidane has suggested there is still a desire to tempt the Frenchman to the Santiago Bernabeu instead.

The Pogba-transfer tattle has been the most enduring of the summer's transfer window, and the speculation has even tired the player himself if a recent tweet by Adidas is anything to go by:

"I don't know if he will come. Until Aug. 31 anything can happen," said Zidane. "Everyone is interested in Pogba. He is a great footballer and when you are Madrid you always want the best. But now he is not a Real Madrid player, he is a Juventus player. I can't say anything more."

The Guardian's Jamie Jackson understands Real could trump United for Pogba's signature if it meets both the Old Lady's valuation and the 23-year-old's lofty wage demands.

New Red Devils boss Jose Mourinho apparently recognises Pogba as a vital cog in a squad that has already been further complemented by Eric Bailly, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, and Henrikh Mkhitaryan since his arrival earlier this summer.
