Sevilla has once again dipped into the Italian market, announcing Saturday that an agreement has been reached for the signing of attacking midfielder Franco Vazquez from Palermo.

Vazquez, a silky 27-year-old playmaker who steered Palermo to safety by notching eight goals and seven assists in Serie A last season, has inked a five-year contract with the Spanish side.

Though official completion of the transfer is subject to a medical, the Argentine-born Italian is already training with his new club.

Rumours surrounding Vazquez's future have been swirling for much of the summer, and gained traction when Palermo sporting director Rino Foschi admitted the talented midfielder was destined to leave the Rosanero for a bigger side.

"Vazquez is going no matter what," Foschi said earlier this week, claiming Sevilla was the likely destination.

And so it has come to pass.

Though a transfer fee was not announced, reports suggest Palermo will pocket €15 million in the deal.

In signing with the reigning Europa League champion, Vazquez joins Joaquin Correa in making the switch from Serie A to La Liga - the latter made the move from Sampdoria earlier this week.
