Juventus director says Higuain move 'a distant thing'

Maybe don't go out and buy a Juventus kit with Gonzalo Higuain's name emblazoned on the back just yet.

Rumours spread like wildfire earlier in the week suggesting that the Bianconeri had reached a personal agreement with the Argentine striker and were willing to meet his exorbitant €94-million release clause.

But Juventus director Fabio Paratici has moved to cool that rampant speculation, claiming that any potential move for the former Real Madrid striker is far from being completed.

"All the big clubs know that their top players can receive tempting offers," Paratici told Gazzetta dello Sport, as reported by ESPN FC. "At Juve, for example, we have the (Leonardo) Bonucci and (Paul) Pogba interest from many clubs and are prepared for possible replacements. That is what Napoli would be doing as well, certainly.

"However, Higuain for us is a distant thing. I hear that Napoli like more than one of our players, but I guarantee at this moment there are no offers and no negotiations."

Paratici also admitted his side tried to lure the record-breaking 28-year-old to Turin prior to his Napoli move in 2013, but failed to strike a deal with Real Madrid.

"We tried before Napoli to talk with Real but did not reach an agreement," he said. "Because that failed, we didn't approach him."
